Here's to the kick-off to the Great Carolina Wines Tasting Notes and blog. While I'm near Virginia, I think North Carolina wines are still unknown to most wine purchasers. So let's see if we can spread the word.
It's true that many of the vines are young, probably most are less than five years old. But there are some that have been growing for a while. In some cases the native muscadines have been here hundreds of years. So join me as I travel the wineries of the Carolinas, tasting my way around the state.
This will mostly be a weekend adventure so I can make the long drives. My hope is to get to one or two a weekend. But if you have your own stories to tell you can share them here. And as I get more experience with this new website software I'll open up membership to those with great insights to share.
Thanks for joining me. Prost!
Just a story to start out. I just had my cholesterol checked and my doctor noticed my triglycerides were high. When I asked if I should stop drinking wine, I was told to keep up a glass or two a day.
The protection afforded by the wine outweighed the risk of the triglycerides. While I've read plenty of stories about this, it was the first time I'd heard a doctor recommend a glass of wine.
